Daddy's Little Girl

Daddy's Little Girl

He was the first to hold me
when I came into this world
and I began life's journey,
as Daddy's Little Girl.

It seemed I grew up quickly
but he was always by my side.
praising all I did
only caring that I'd tried.

 He had the warmest smile
and rarely said an unkind word
He was always there to listen,
making sure that I was heard.

He taught me to play tennis
so I would love the game
and I was far from perfect,
but he loved me just the same.

 I thought we had forever
there was so much left to say,
but I found our time was shortened,
as I watched him fade away.

 Now my life is empty
I feel lonely, lost and sad,
yet I have so many memories
of the man... who will always be...
my dad.

Reason for writing:

I wrote this in memoy of my father,Curt Hendrix ,who passed away several years ago due to Lung Cancer and because I will always be Daddy's Little Girl.
