Stubborn silence like icy stalagmites that sharpen clarity or
An esoteric cryptic city large enough to house injured inhabitants
Were still performances more potent than poison, tales more truthful than
Mere phrases or transparent pretensions of politeness

It was the weight of sunken stares that sliced, degradations that
Dismantled me into an assortment of prepositions and conjunctions
Leaving splintered fragments of genderless flesh or urns of ashes
Scattered across seas of sediment and earthenware silt

Resurrection was a reminder of Jungian methodology or adult psychic integration
While the corrupted boards of my consciousness were littered with
Cellophane wrapped around gestures of civility, you suffered from the

Recurring ailment of the abandoning impulse where rhapsodies with
Resonating syllables were marked with faint accents of farewell so that you could
Resume the role of stranger in a retreat to yet another anonymous paradise

A mosaic of excuses woven into a plausible patchwork of circumstance, saying
These dirges were pistols discharging lyrics trained on lamentations, only
Mannequins of a mother fail to pledge strict allegiance to the superiority of tears

Fate should have outlawed this faith more insupportable than air, and
Skeptics stand on the edge of precipices tainted with your philosophies while
Coaxing consonants are chants infused with cracked conviction and drums echo
Plaintive vowels of mantras laced with meaningless prayerlike insistence

Black diamonds are sprinkled asphalt on hearts held up to broken moonlight
Hieroglyphs engraved on a ridge of stones overlooking Santorini or a
Pageant of spiralling stars you called a constellation of children

Pasted on an indecipherable skyline, these spirits never splashing colors
Needed to form a coherent universe, every night was opaque while
Meandering through a maze of interlocking bramble and hedge, over
Haunted meadows where no winds of hope and memory blew
