BRICK BUILDING BLOCKS

You gave me building blocks when I was a child
Bricks 1-19 represented your cruelty, the basic foundation
Bricks 20-29 were your awful, hurtful words
Bricks 30-39 stood for your neglect
Bricks 40-49 expressed your physical abuse you gave me
Bricks 50-59 depicted your physical cruelty
Bricks 60-69 portrayed your spiritual heartlessness
Bricks 70-79 symbolized your sexual abuses bestowed upon me
Bricks 80-89 typified your emotional viciousness
___________
The total equals the brick wall I built with these blocks in order to
protect myself, and yet it held me as a prisoner
Layer by layer the bricks were laid and cemented
Year by year a fortress was in the making
The wall was not made to be broken through.

Can anyone see me behind this wall?
How many years does it take to disassemble?
Can anyone hear me crying behind this wall?
Is my hurt so covered and protected by this wall that no
	one can find me?
A life-time of hiding myself and my feelings is the legacy
	you left me
Does anyone see or hear--and if they do, do they really care?
