Staring at the wall Reading every name The young men Who thought it a game To them It's all the same, Memories fading Into the past A slow falling tear Not the last Humanity Losing its cast, Young men gone So long ago Leaving the earth Not even a show With a courage They did not know, The names of boys Long since gone Left to wander Until the dawn For the rest To carry on.
Reason for writing:
This poem is written in memory of everyone who fought and died, so that this country could keep it's independence, and even if they are no longer here to share it with us, they will always be remembered and held in our hearts. I was inspired by the pictures that my grandfather showed me of the Vietnam Memorial and it somehow tugged at my heart.Birth sign: Capricorn
