So Much For Salvation

by S.M. Scott - Capricorn

Sitting in the corner of the room
Thinking these thoughts left unspoken
All of the truth in their lies
Each of the hearts to be broken

The innocence seen in their eyes
Soon to be departing from them
Lost in a moment of pure insanity
Left out in the past by some whim

And now the sorrow will sink in
How that love was never really there
And the others will walk on their way
No second thoughts or a care

The souls that were tainted in lust
Now coming crawling back to me
The truths i had told to them before
Are the very ones that they now see

And scattering away into the night
Carrying new fears upon their backs
I have known the way it has always gone
For I too made those same tracks

And yet I sit in this corner
Waiting for the guilty to return
And into the fires of temptation
Is where they all will burn

For I am but a simple messenger
Upon my shoulders I can feel sinful weight
And within these unwary souls
There comes a time for fate

And so I depart from this world
Realizing how much I could have done
Wanting so much to have changed
The new lives that have just begun.

Reason for writing:

This is basically about knowing that you could have prevented something bad from happening to a person who means something to you, but then seeing that fate wanted it that way.
