New Orleans Room

by Trisha Hanudel - Gemini

that sly smile crept across his face
eyes fierce, watching--never see a smile like that again
i'll miss you

he was an inspiration, a carved memory
hair of fire, walk in defiance
never see a soul like that again--i'll miss you too

i guess i'll be a street artist, so i can see them again
passing seers and sages--pretend they care and i rebel

he was so happy to see the eyes
brightened by those filthy streets
the heart darkened by lies and sarcasms
his voice stained with a detached dillusion
But I knew he wasn't alone

the brown body above me
brimming with little more than lust and smoke
sometimes smoldering flames just don't die
i say he's just a friend

bright days, writhing with vitality, a new day so far away
Love reaffirmed by the fisherman--he smiled at me

nothing of yesterday will ever be spoken for
those women outside under the tree's shade in plastic chairs
won't be my salvation or executioner
i know now who to trust

who's fault is it?
who's shoulders are strong enough to carry his words?
I say, I say the Assassin
And I win.

that sly smile crept across my face
eyes fierce, watching, aren't for you alone

but who do i fight for?
i won't let you die
i think you're worth it
but the real question is:
Am I?

Reason for writing:

i cheated on my boyfriend. then there was a leak and i decided who paid the price. it wasn't me or him. that's what you get for knowing the wrong people.
