“The Old Man and The Lantern” An old man always fished, At a local area pond, He cast his line and baited his hook, Right up until the dawn, Rarely did anyone see the man, He always fished at night, Casting his line in the pond, Without a bit of light !, The people bought a lantern, For the fisherman, And left it there unaware, To lend a helping hand, Sure, the brand new lantern, Would emit it’s glowing light, So the old man could see clearly, When he fished the pond at night, The old man found the lantern, And thought the people fond, To spend their hard earned money, For him to fish the pond, The well meaning people came to see him, Very late one night, And heard whistling and singing, But saw no trace of light !, They whispered to each other, “He left the lantern behind !”, Never knowing, after all, The fisherman was blind...
