I knew my mother was not doing well, Oh! The breaking of my heart! Knowing soon she would depart, From the human shell, That encased her soul so well. She raised her head from the hospital bed, “Am I dying”? I answered her crying, “Yes”, Lord! If I have a last request, Let mother stay with me, Please don’t let her go! She whispered, “ I thought so”, referring to the dying, Amid my futile crying, Mother stretched out her arm, “There’s no cause for alarm,” She did the motherly thing, She comforted me! Sinking in my sorrow, “I won’t be here tomorrow, Always remember me, The way it used to be, Know I’ll be freed from this chain, That binds me to this pain, Now, go get some rest, I think it’s for the best, I love you so much! Never forget my touch, Leave me now, Don’t look back, I’ll always be with you, Love Mom, Love Mom.” My mother had been so strong, I could not have faced her death alone, That is the definition of devotion, Even in death ,her emotion, Fulfills and sustains me, Now I know she’s free, She’s flown away to heaven, And has comforted me, Almost saying, Love Mom...
