For Mommy To Hold

by Shane D. Moore - Sagittarius

It is positive ! I heard the mother say,
She glowed with proudness on that blessed day,
The pink strip on the test had turned ocean blue,
We were thinking of cribs, diapers and you,
The brief time that followed we made the plan,
You would lie, crawl, stumble, then stand,
We could not believe it when they said you had died,
For days and hours we mourned for you and cried,
What had happened ? What was our mistake ?,
That God would choose to take you away,
We see other babies among our brethren,
I guess God needed part of us there in heaven,
We know that you’re safe there far from harm,
Wrapped up in Love in Jesus’ arms,
Or maybe your grown and singing out loud,
Among heaven’s finest in the vocal crowd,
What is heaven ? You should see !,
It’s the place where you’ll never have a need,
Able to run down streets made of gold,
Yet waiting there in a rocking chair,
For Mommy to hold.

Reason for writing:

My wife and I went down the dark road of miscarriage.
The pain involved is the shattered dreams that you have
envisioned. Thank God that He has prepared heaven to make
everything all right. We know we have a child in heaven,
and I pray this poem has touched your heart in a special way
