Goodnight to a prince… Saw your little hand raise and salute your father’s hearse… From that moment you became society’s child, a poet’s verse… The world watched as you grew from child to teen to man… But always, in everyone’s eyes’ a little prince no less than… Grown up with such tender wit and grace… Not at all spoilt by fame nor jaded by fortune one can trace… You were every woman’s dream and a man’s man… But always, in everyone’s eyes’ a little prince no less than… Through each truimph, each conquered obstacle of your young life... Made you stronger, gentler and at ease with your given strife Here you were, young and yet possessed the wisdom of a man… But always, in everyone’s eyes’ a little prince no less than… The world witnessed every love you won and every love you lost… This last one the fairest, everything she almost cost… A boy still in our eyes yet able to love like a grown man… But always, in everyone’s eyes’ a little prince no less than… It was on this fateful night, you took flight… Up in the clouds you soared and flew out of sight… Our little boy taking charge and maneuvering a toy for a grown man… But always, in our eyes a little prince playing in man;s world, no less than… Our little prince no longer here…. The same adventurous spirit that took this dear… The little boy that grew to teen to man… But always, in our eyes a little prince no less than… Goodnight sweet prince, John. Danielle McHenry
