Sea green, waves against the shore Sparkling water, plankton and rocks Pale sand fine, herons, seagulls and shells A row of cottages above the beach White, pastel green, and blue Remnants of a maritime age. Your cousin who had a skiff Lived in one of those cottages old [Dedicated to Elisabeth Tudor the First] And sailed daily from the shore In search of crustaceans And other sea creatures... The cabin at the shore A place for tools and bait and tackle, While you a toddler towhead Would wander down To the pond, field, grass That fed the sea where small fish spawn. Sea green, waves against the shore Sparkling water, plankton and rocks Remnants of a maritime age.
Reason for writing:
Love or explicit interest in pristine sea or ocean. Pollution was less or non-existent years ago. Interest in marsh areas that spawn sea-life. Interest in Coast-lines.
