Of Diamonds and Fire

by John Hagen - Libra

Diamond soul I stand alone
from burning embers burning coal
to the darkness where no man goes
I sear life, desire, dreams, all
you live, you love, and then you fall
tortured slowly without reprieve
you have no life, no sight, no need
pull out the life that lacks within
and strap your hopes on a burning wheel
course set straight to hell and back again
I have no life, no sight, no need
I am diamond and do not bleed
I feel no pain that is my own
if my life, my love, my hope is gone
no other shall enter for I am strong
like fire burning brighter day begun
hatred, mockery, rage, and pain
will be the only friends to mine own name

Reason for writing:

Betrayal by a loved one is the most despiring thing that can happen. I had trusted, and began to love. This was my only fault, and trust broke me. Out of the fire of my anger a diamond was born. Beautiful, hardness, impenetrable I became. I will never be hurt again.
