"Elusive Possession"

by Eleanora Renee Bryant - Capricorn

"Elusive Possession"

The blank eyes of yesterday float unceasingly,
Joining irresolutely with the faint chablis blush
Of a tomorrow,existing in simple contrast
To all that had ever been, all that will ever be.
But,of course, you know this as well as I,and
Although I shall forever be indebted with apologies,
I'll never again spare a single contrition for you;
You who are so willing to trade betrayal for vengeance,
In a never-ending cycle
Where I am nothing
But the outlet for your own insecurities;
In a world where possession is considered
Nine-tenths of all that is,
No space remains for love, for betrayal,
Especially between those to whom
The ideals cannot be separated.
I do not wound you to ranson my own regrets,
I do not love you in compensation for anything else
Existing in elusive understanding.
Some games can only be won
By those who refuse to acknowledge the rules.

Reason for writing:

    Yet another cynical reflection on love,relationships,and the personal experiences that leave me a bitter and mistrustful person. :-) It's a comedic piece. *lol*
