Faithless and Waning

by Lady Cyndiana - Aries

Faithless and numb she stands....
Green eyes rimmed with red, lip quivering...
Thinking “Now I’m a child again...”
Her heart bleeds for him....

He was so cold where he once was beautiful
and he left her broken like yesterday’s toy.
She shudders to think he was ever the only one she dreamed of.
His words spewed forth like so much venom.

And another love she’s reached for, he too destroyed her...
and they all wonder why she hates to love
why she’s void of faith
why she’s empty and waning.

She hears the harsh words again,
cursing her, screaming her name.
She strikes her head to quiet them, if even for a moment...
She cries and cries “Why me?”

All is still, and she prepares for tomorrow’s broken heart
Nurses yesterday’s open wounds
Quietly suffering while others tell how how much worse off they are.
Wishing she could close her eyes, drift to sleep, forever, and ever and ever......

Reason for writing:

This poem was inspired by two friends wh omade me love them,
then left me when I needed them most, as well as my typical,
day-to-day melacholy.
