A little girl's Hero

by Teresa - Scorpio

I close my eyes to let the memories rush in
I see you standing there with arms wide open
I know what you are to say before the words are spoken
"Come to Pop-pop", you'd finally utter
Then you would hold me like a delicate flower
Yourlove pouring down on me like a warm shower
Giving me the feeling of complete power
Pop-pop's little girl is what you called me
No matter how bad I'd be
You never seemed to get mad at me
I could NEVER do wrong in your eyes
When my parents punished me, you seemed surprized
"Don't touch the baby" you'd shout in my defense
Ignoring their words describing my offense
Tears flood to my eyes when I remember you
For you are my hero who has laid down to rest
I never did get to tell you that I think you're the best
Now.......pictures of warm memories is what I hold dear
I flip through them often, pretending you're near
Whenever I feel sad or blue, I look to the sky and pretend that I see you
You smile with a twinkle in your eye
Whispering that your love for me will never die
I miss you Pop-Pop......you live in my heart and soul, never to be forgotten!

Reason for writing:

Inspired by the greatest and most mysterious man that I've ever known! My Grandfather(Mac Langley)
