It always surprises me, How close we used to be. When your smile always seemed so sweet, When I always caught you looking at me. When you told us that we should just be friends, I could feel nothing but pain. Even hearing your favourite songs just made my heart break, Because it just reminded me how you were far away. Love is not possesion, And should contain no jealousy. I have to admit that it was such a mistake, That I took everything so seriously. I know that our relationship is over, I know that I'm not the one you love anymore, And I know that maybe for you I'm just a bother, But nothing can erase all the memories we had together. It took me a long time to face the truth, That I still love you, And even more than I used to. It just seems that nobody can ever replace you. I always thought that we were meant to be together, Even though now we are like strangers. Whenever you feel lonely or somber, I just want you to knwo that I will always be here
Reason for writing:
I wrote this poem few months after I broke up with my first boyfriend. He was the first guy that I truly cared about, and we still broke up because we were both not mature enough. I have to admit that I'm actually not good at poetry, but on that night, those lines just suddenly popped up in my head, and I decided to write it into a poem.
