life (minus symbolic nonsense)

by Richard Willems - Aquarius

So you're born.
Big deal, you're just
one of a hundred million
other babies born at the
exact same time.

You learn to stop shitting in your pants,
go to school and get good grades
to please your parents.

You go to college
where you fill your stomach with beer
and your brain with pot, and if you're lucky
a little knowledge too.

You graduate and join the nine to five.

As you slouch by the water cooler
you meet the perfect woman.
She swallows your lines and soon
she's swallowing you every night.

My god, you've suddenly got a mortgage
a car loan and three screaming kids!

You have your first heart attack
followed soon after by your first bypass surgery.
Your first affair happens just before your
first divorce. You buy an expensive sports car
and grow out your graying hair.

At your retirement party you shake hands
with the little fucker who's already
moved into your office and ogle
the secretary one last time.

Soon you move into your kid's house
where you shame them by forgetting
to stop shitting in your pants.

And then you die.
Big deal, you're just
one of a hundred million
other old men who died at the
exact same time.
