father

by Hiro Protagonist - Leo

"have you had enough?"

crouching in the corner
    pitiful eyes weeping
  stories to my cheeks.
flat red imprint
    displayed finely
   across my face
like the first
robin of spring.

     "have you had enough?"

my hands clenched, trembling
   like the withdrawals of
an addiction.
 hugging my knees tightly
   to my chest
  shallow intake of breath
as I wait for another
lash of the Belt.
