Melodies

by Bill - Cancer

Melodies are my memories
Tunes in my head
Unexpected treasures
Hidden from my mind
Grown up world of
Weight, toil
Burden and despair
Sudden song sends me back
To the valleys of my youth
Whispers in my soul
"Jesus loves me this I know"
"Snaps, snails and puppy dog tails"
Hopscotch skipped
In simple rhyme
Celebrating ghosts
Of happier times;
Bestest friend
First date
Our song
Loves long forgotten
Stories never told
Fragrances felt
In hues of pink, purple and blue
Laughter, shrieks and dare
Tinkle...Tinkle...Tinkle
Tiny ballerinas dance
As floating on air
Far away eyes
Looking back at me
Where have I known you
Little lost dreams
Dancing through
A window pane
Blink and shudder
Empty room
Vision fades
To flesh and bone
Pale light casting
A straight white line
Ugly pen to coarse paper
Tinkle...Tinkle...Tinkle
Melodies are my memories
Tunes in my head

Reason for writing:

I am separated from my two daughters by divorce & 210 miles.
I was sitting at the breakfast table, thinking of them when this came to me.
Poems in a way, are somewhere I'm taken to & I just write about the experience
