Nod and Smile

by Jada Andrews - Capricorn

Just walk and look at the ground
No one will see you
You can fake it, everything is fine
Uh, oh.
Here she comes. She's smiling at you.
Smile back. Wave.
Whew. That was close.
She bought it. Look back down now.
Don't make eye contact again.
If you do, you have to fake it all again.
Just ignore them all.
They'll fade to the background.
Fade away.
Are those tears in your eyes?
Don't cry!
They'll see right through you!
Is that what you want?
Fight them back now.
No crying.
You looked up again!
He's smiling at you.
You've hidden it from him before.
Smile back, quick, before he
notices the tears.
Quicker! Why aren't you smiling?
He's stopping. Now you've done it.

"What's wrong Jada?"
"Nothing."

Reason for writing:

Sometimes people can't be judged by how they act...
Sometimes they're just going through the motions.
