The grandeur has fallen from grace, the elite discarded, shattered by the reality that their status means nothing. Now they worry, for in the real world personality is what counts and their egos destroyed that long ago.
Reason for writing:
I was reflecting on those kids in high school that think they're better than everyone because they're rich or wear the right clothes or are a cheerleader/football player. Once they graduate, their social status means nothing.
