Second Class Citizen

by Teresa - Taurus

There was a loud thud as the boat docked
People began to cheer for the excitement that was about to unfold
They were greeted by men in uniform who pointed out their path
Like shepard's gathering up their flock, the uniformed men
pushed and shoved the crowd to the big, dark and cold looking
building
Once inside, the crowd was greeted by an even bigger crowd
Their cheers were replaced by screams of confusion
Women dressed in white take the immmigrant children from their
mothers and strap them down- injecting them with their needles-
-Ignoring their cries- Ignoring their fears-
As they walk further down the line- visions of men with
clipboards- writing names down on paper- the only words they
speak are to tell a fellow immigrant their new "American" name
Hours felt like days as more people were shoved through this
human production line
Uniformed men laughing as they say, "Welcome to America SECOND
CLASS CITIZENS!"
Is this how it all starts?
Unjust treatment by one group to another?
Confusion turning into anger- Anger turning into HATE
Children being told to forget their mother tongue so that they
can blend in with the great americans
America is indeed the "melting pot" of the world, however, some
of the ingredients contained in the pot are sour, leaving a fowl
taste to all those that consume from it.
I can still hear the cries for freedom growing louder and louder
as time goes on..........
