Grown

by Beth Fulmer - Scorpio

Fairy tales and butterflies
As we gaze up with stars in our eyes
No more castles, no more stories
No more days filled with glory
As all things must surely have to end,
We have reached that point my friend.
We are grown up now,
Although I’m not sure how.
No more time for dress up games,
Along with the times, we too have changed.
We still look back and see ourselves,
In the pictures on the shelves.
And now as I drift off to sleep,
Light one candle for, and one for me.
Pray that we will hold on,
To those days long gone.
Pray for the fairy tales and butterflies,
Pray for the castles and stars in our eyes.
Pray for me and pray for you,
Pray for the old and pray for the new.

Reason for writing:

I just entered high school this year, and it made me realize how much my friends and I have grown up. It's sad and exciting at the same time. I know that I try to hold on to the old as much as possible, but writing this kind of helped me let go of it and realize that I need to live in the now. Well, please tell me what you think about it!
