Sighing Eyes

by Steve - Leo

Watching love-infested movies
The good guy always seems to win
Gets to wrap his arms around her
Her gentle smile invites him in
Look upon myself and question
For I can see my faults and flaws
Are they really all that ugly?
For I can see no other cause
I come so close sometimes, I think
To walk away with empty hands
I'm pulled so tight, but I don't break
Snap back with pain like rubber bands
My blood runs dry, seeks fertile ground
With down-turned eyes my only friend
My feet scuff dirt, instead of marching
Why even bother to pretend?
I feel my fingers gently purring
Through your hair with nimble ease
Inhaling deep the sweet aroma
Oh, do not wake me from this, please
I need a love so soft and warm
Why can one never come to me?
Will my time ever be approaching?
Or will I always be alone?

The soft caress of lover's hands
That feed not on my skin
My sweet embrace upon the air
Oh, can I never win?
