A Trip To The Fair

by fatdad36_20 - Cancer

Often I wonder,
What thoughts go through my son's mind.
Today,
I would have given all I own
For a glimpse,
Of what was inside his head.
Last night,
He fought away tears,
Trying so hard to be brave,
As he watched his sisters board a plane
On a trip to visit their mother.
Today,
However,
Was his day to smile.
For De Lady Elf took my son to the fair.
He rode a pony,
And a camel,
A rollercoaster
And a race car.
He petted animals,
Ate cotton candy,
And won a prize.
Not once,
All day long,
Did a smile leave his face.
Words cannot describe
The happiness I saw today,
The memory of his smile will always be with me.
Thank you,
De Lady Elf.

Reason for writing:

One weekend, when my daughters had flown to see their mother, a good friend, Elf, took my son to the fair so that while his sisters were having their good times, he could have his own. Thank you Elf.
