Year End

by Sharon Denise Britt - Sagittarius

Year End
Jump, yell, scream and shout
This year will roll into another
Promises will be made and broken
Fables will be honored
Cocktails pledged to the rooftops
Hurried, worried, spirits fill the streets
Churches, clubs, pool halls full of toasting and praising benefactors
Sleeping souls dream of another utopian year
Others sit snuggled in front of the tube anticipating the year in count down
Souls enter and exit the temporary kingdom
All foggy eyes awaken the next day to an amazing discovery, it's just another year

Reason for writing:

At the end of every year we seem to put so much effort and time into preparing ourselves for the big event and 12 midnight. And, every January the 1st we always seem to be surprised that everything and everybody is still the same.
