I noticed it as I walked to my car early one morning. It grew all alone...out of a shrub that had seen better times. What caught my attention at first was the color... A dignified lavendar...not too soft...not too bright. This flower had determination... This was one special bloom. I looked around for others of it's kind; But to my surprise there were none. I was puzzled as to how it came to grow there. But I was appreciative of it's singular beauty. It became a morning delight... I would hurry outside to the car, on my way to earn an living. But I would always take the time to look at the flower. I would sometimes stop and smell it's tender sweetness. This flower lived until the first frost... then I didn't see it again. But I will always see it in my mind... It will always be with me. I think of it as the little flower that could. I consider it to be one of life's most valuable lessons. When I am alone and the day is one of gloom... I think to myself...if the flower could grow by itself with quiet dignity...so can I.
Reason for writing:
I noticed this little flower growing all alone and it made me think about how easy it is to overlook life's simple pleasures. We tend to get swept away by daily responsiblities, not taking the time to stop and notice our surroundings.
To notice creation and how beautifully it all fits together to teach us simple lessons, such as this one.
