DREAMS FOR A CHILD Through the night I shall carry you on Dragon’s wings, Into a dreamland of Wizards and Kings; Where Ghosts, Goblins and gruesome things; Will never harm you the most precious of Queens. Dreamland will have green hills so high, You will be able to pluck a star from the sky, A knight shall watch over you, you need not know why, For he shall always watch over you especially when you cry. The Dream Wizard will cast the spell of sleep, So in the bedroom of your castle keep; You will slumber peacefully deep, Never once having to count sheep. The Elves will dance with you in your dream, Taking you through the forest to a bubbling stream, Next to a meadow of flowers as milky as cream; Through the twilight gray it will seem, Dawn’s early light will wake you from this scene. Oh! A promise to you child of mine; Dreams of happiness and sunshine; For when you were born I knew it was time, Joy and happiness would dine, At the sumptuous feast of beauties vine.
