Dear Daddy

by Yolanda - Libra

For all the times you rocked me to sleep,
For all the crayon drawings you just had to keep,
For all the cuts and scrapes you kissed better,
For the times Mom wanted to punish me but you wouldn't let her,
As your child, I thank you.

For all the encouragement you gave me to dream,
For the calming words you whispered when I wanted to scream,
For the confidence you gave me to try,
For answering my questions when I asked you "why",
As a woman, I appreciate you.

For the example of patience you've always shown,
For the blueprint you created of a happy home,
For all the advice and late-night calls,
For all the precious memories that adorn my walls,
As a mother, I respect you.

For your loving hands that guide my way,
For your caring heart and your warm embrace,
For the wonderful father you are to me,
For all I am and all I'll be,
As your daughter, I love you.

Reason for writing:

All the things I'd liked to have been able to say to my Daddy before he died. I'm sure he knows though.
