When New Morning Light Creeps In

by Nancy Marano - Scorpio

Morning light disturbs his soft sleeping face
Tossing and turning restlessly he reaches out
and knows he will find her.
His soft hand falls on her hip and his arms circle around her waist
drawing her in closer to him.
She watches him wearily smile at the discovery that last night was no dream
And he turns on his back as he sinks back peacefully into his half-met
 slumber.
A tiny smile creeps onto his face
and she traces her fingertips along the soft lines that form around his eyes
 before she kisses them.
He turns again to her, eyes still closed
And breathes into her neck before he whispers, "I love you."
And before she can reply to this, His warm breath is upon her mouth
And she longs to feel his heart race against hers
As it did last night when all of him became part of her
He pulls her in closer, until there are no spaces between them
And she whispers back in reply, "I love you too."
Only this time, he believes her.
His hands tangle in her hair as he tries to pull her closer still
And her face presses into his shoulders as she reciprocates the same
 intention.
He draws back and looks at her face, his beautiful eyes staring into her
And she reaches up and touches his face as she lays her head down on his chest
And holds him. Her precious angel. In her arms. In her soul, In her heart…
For this moment and for all time.

Reason for writing:

Most people feel that sex is just a physical act between two people,
so I attempted to show it as something much deeper and much more
connective than that of physical coming together.
