Christmas Alone

Christmas Alone
By Richard Maxfield
12-11-99

Christmas day
is so very near
And you my love
will not be here
Christmas morning
never be the same
no longer together
who is to blame
Mistletoe hung high
over the door
Sweet taste of you kiss
never more
One light in the window
twinkles all alone
Flashes bright
for the one that’s not home
The gift I desire
can not be
To wake Christmas morning
with you beside me
So many years
all we have had
This Christmas morning
will be so sad
I will wake
just our daughter and me
Spend that special day
You, we will not see
So when you wake
so far from home
Your in our hearts
so we are not alone
Think of us
how it used to be
When Christmas day
was you and me
