The Death Of Lonely Jack Oaktree

by Mike - Aquarius

THE DEATH OF LONELY JACK OAKTREE

the day was quiet in a small town
on the rooftops the wind softly sings
an old man sat upon his porch
with the tales of the past he brings
he begins his ill-fated story
in the town that witnessed the tradegy
the end of a brotherly feud
and the death of jack oaktree

long ago the wind would tell
this tale of a jealous lover
for jack oaktree was in love
with the wife of his only brother
he professed his undying devotion
with the soft voice of his pen
he was blinded by false laughter
the words he wrote would spell the end

jack was a lonely soul
never having love of his own
he believed his brother's wife
was the cure from him being alone
at first it was just admiration
tucked away in his thoughts
but when infactuation came
true love is what he sought

so on one fateful december morn
jack challenged his brother to a duel
he thought his mind was quick with wit
but in his heart he was a fool
the wind blew cold on that day
tears would blur poor jack's sight
his brother stood tall and strong
gathering all of his might

between them stood ten paces
both waiting for the call
jack's tears would bring the end
with one bullet he would fall
on the ground is where he layed
fallen to his worst enemy
the air grew thick and damp and cold
with death of jack oaktree

the old man would pause
with his thoughts on his tongue
he remembered that day well
that the tired wind had sung
he looked over at the hill
where jack was buried
that fool always chasing the love
of the woman his brother married

the old man came before jack's grave
knowing the love fool that was he
before him rested his only brother
he had killed his only brother;
the death of lonely jack oaktree...

Reason for writing:

happened to me.. if you look close there's a theme in there..
