Darkness... Silence... All in the present of a man with great loss... Pain... Denial... I stand only with memories holding you, each is equal to a tear in all of us... Yet, you are now at peace. Your suffering is gone... you have gained your release. I stop the flowing tears. I must remember. All the fun memories of you. God, help them not die like a dying ember. For despite your demise you are still among us. You are not truly dead, least your memory fades us... So now I salute you, with gratitude overflowing... A tribute to a man who made my life a joyful memory, like the candle light left glowing. Tears... Joy... Sorrow... Laughter... All of this encompass the life you have left, With mourning hearts turned into dancing, So has your life awakened so much in us... May you now rest in your long earned peace. In the presence of God, whose death gave all of us this welcome release... so a tear shed, one, not I...
Reason for writing:
Last wednesday, I found out that my grandfather died.
I was half expecting it though... He was sick-and dying.
Well, this poem was written to remind all of us
that even in the deaths of our beloveds they only die if we let our memories of them, die... Just like a tear... an ember left in the rain... Just like the many deaths before them. We can bring them back to life, if only in our memories. And we be assured that they rest in God's arms.
