Goodbye My Love By Richard Maxfield 12-30-99 Covenant between God, woman and man Never to be broken, that was his plan God placed us together, never to part Two people, with just one heart bone upon bone, flesh became as one in love together, example of how it’s done now the time has come, to let you go my thoughts my love, you should know Acing arms longing for the warmth of you Standing empty, nothing more to do Thoughts of yesterday, flicking shadows in my mind Memories of us, another place in time Ignited passion, love’s fevered pace Consumes my being, memories the only trace Hopes and dreams, that will never come true Just a piece left of me, the rest you take with you 22 short years I held you tight each day on my mind, dreams every night If love could be bought, any price I would have paid If the love we shared, could have been saved Looking back on our life just one regret your love for me faded, and so much life yet I pray what your looking for, you will find I had it all, when you were mine.
Reason for writing:
My wife of 22 years and I are no longer together. 1-1-2000 we meet to sign the papers to end our marriage. I love her but I have to let her go. I will give her this poem or maybe not.Birth sign: Gemini
