The Nation's Whore

by Erica Hughes - Libra

I have been defiled, ridiculed, and abandoned,
I am your bitch, your whore, your trick, and the mother
of your bastard children,
I am the nation's whore,
you have defiled me,
because I so naively,
spreaded my legs and let you love me,
but I foolishly didn't know,
that I would never be anything,
you meant me to be, nothing but your hoe.
I am third generation maiden,
I am my maiden name.
Brother, you smile so mischeiviously,
proud of your four-legged games.
You can search other seas for your bride,
but my strength comes from my pride,
I am your mother, your sister, and your lover,
in chains you have watched me die.
I am the subject of your music,
the object of your lust,
and the one in which you vent your anger, for your lack of love, self,
and distrust,
destroying my pedestal is all you have acheived,
brother you must believe,
I am you mother, your sister, and your daughter,
being sterotyped, stigmatized
being portrayed,
bound and enslaved,
and for,
by means of your creative pursuits,
you made me your nation's whore.
