The Day I sent My Son To Jail (comments)

by Erica Hughes - Libra

I am in agony,
because I failed.
My only son, I sent to jail.
I thought that it would do some good,
just to keep him,
from the hood.

He was runnin', all the streets,
for some thugs, he wanted to meet,
livin' large, like he was cool,
wearin' new clothes, and ditchin' school.
So I decided to run, to the police,
so that I could save him, from the streets.
Now I know that it wasn't fair,
that I let them put,
my boy in jail,
and that I refused his bail.

I know I have done more harm than good,
I wish that he could have understood,
I know that I should have tried,
other ways to keep him alive.
In my heart I just can't bear,
that I put my son in jail.
