A Dream

by Jessica - Taurus

I messed up when I said goodbye.
Now all I have are tears in my eyes.
You were everything to me,
My life, my breath, everything you needed to be.
The only thing that you weren't was mine,
But I pretended everything would be just fine.
I would look and see you smile,
And I felt like you were mine for a brief while.
But then you would look away from my face,
And reality would snap me back in place,
At night I would sit and think only of you,
And wish it was only true,
That you were here telling me everything would be okay,
You would know exactly what to say.
That you would love me forever and never quit,
Your love would be like a bottomless pit.
It goes on strong and never ends.
It would be true not pretend.
Our love would flow endlessly like a clear stream,
Then I remember, it was all just a dream.

Reason for writing:

I write a lot of poetry about heartbreaks, not because I have had a lot of them, but because people can relate to them. And this was one of the better ones, so enjoy, and let me know what you feel about it.
