Lost in the sea of betrayal

by MDM Matthew - Libra

Lost in the sea of betrayal
I float alone, shipwrecked-
Abandoned…
With floating pieces of driftwood,
so much like my memories of
what I thought was as is.
I wonder, as fish nibble at my
Toes, I wonder
if all that I have laid dear and cherished
be so wrong-or deceitful, I don't care anymore.
As I feel my parched throat swallow
my eternity, I admit I am wrong…
I do have my faults… But as if
they do not have their own.
If I was younger, I would've let go…
Succumbing the cold embrace of death-
As if they are worth it.
Ha! They don't know me, yet judge.
Judge as if they have lived me.
My life. My knowledge. My failure and achievements.
Who are they?
Are we not all specks of dust?
Are we not all drops of water,
frozen in time as whimmed
by our God?
"If there is such a god."
my contemporary would say.
I maybe critical-perfectionist
or whatever label may be pressed on me.
I can lived with that.
What I cannot live with is the fact
That people wear masks of endearment,
Then bare teeth when you are turned.
Pathetic. How unmoralistic.
And now I ask, "what friendship?"

As I slowly watch the setting sun
I wonder… wonder if truth and
honesty shall ever prevail in this twisted sea
of masks.

Reason for writing:

Talk about being back stabbed! the last thing I could tolerate are back stabbing morons who hate you for
correct principles! Tsk tsk tsk! grabe naman o...
