you cannot lock my soul

by Shanii - Scorpio

my heart flies across
the oceans
to lands of foreign suns
my thoughts fly through
endless horizons
I often hear the strains
of melodies,
wild and strange
walk through fields
of wild orchids and gaze
at the snow capped peaks
of an ancient mountain range

my soul flees to feel
timeless seasons
see those I have never seen
palm fringed shores
and playful dolphins
through a single moonlit beam
my ears still to listen
to the sound of running deer
against an autumn stream
my skin tingled
by the grains
of silver sands
on a warm and foreign beach

my lips they taste
sweet strawberries growing wild
by the sunny hills
I close my eyes
and let the jasmine
flowers fill up my nostrils
relaxed I lie
on purple grass
in a land of genuine smiles
a rainbow land
a fulfilled land
a land where freedom reigns

though you may lock my body
in a cold
and mouldy room
though you may tie me down
by my very own
flesh and bone
my heart will always rove
across the wilder climes
for you cannot lock my soul
as long as I am alive

Reason for writing:

for all those who feel trapped....
