Today, my dear, we celebrate our golden wedding day, and try to count the many things that life has brought our way. It seems like only yesterday, that we said, " I do " I know the years have rolled away, though they seem so very few. When we were young and full of pep, we stayed right side by side, And, now that time has slowed our pace, as one we still abide. The storm of life has been a weld that made us truly one, And all the joys that we have had, I can recount them one by one. We know not how much time we have to dwell together on this land. But, when time has come for us to go, Let's leave together, hand in hand ! ! Cletus Hardiman
Reason for writing:
I had the pleasure of seeing my parents make it for 50 years, and I knew how they felt about each other.....(actually they had been married almost 69 years when Dad passed on)....so, being the writer that I am, I just had to put it in words....
