INFLATION

by Cletus Hardiman - Sagittarius

If Rip WanWinkle had lived today
and just awakened from sleep,
I know he'd never understand
why prices are so steep !
Twenty years ago
when "ole Rip" shut his eyes,
A cola cost him a nickle,
and so did a big moon pie.
But, as he slept the years away
the prices, they did soar....
They've gone so very high
they can't come down any more.
So, Old Rip would sit and wonder
and then begin to rave,
What he used to pay for a razor,
won't now buy him a shave.

Reason for writing:

Inspiration for this poem, is the obvious, I guess...SOARING PRICES....Where will they stop?
