"DISTANT IMAGE" (2nd Chapter)

by Jerome Raynell Roseborough - Capricorn

I finally got the chance to meet my dad,
Anticipating that moment I thought I’d be glad.
For the first time I saw his face,
Searching the details trying to find my family trace.

We spoke only for a minute before he crossed his bounds,
Telling me what to do as if he had always been around.
I stepped away and let my words flow,
“You were never around to see me grow”.

From that day on I have never seen him since,
All my effort used trying to show him, trying to convince...
He missed the good days, which lead to the bad,
He’ll never know my goals, my different ways, how sad.

I was hoping that the image wouldn’t be so distant,
But no luck in that journey, he left in an instant.
Maybe it’s time to let this image go,
He wouldn’t search for me nor would he ever show.

One day I’ll ask him how it was so easy to turn his back,
Why live with responsibility when you can always jump the track?
Was it so easy to close your eyes and erase your mind?
Was it too much to handle so you escaped the bind?

I have two sons following in my footsteps,
A better example I plan to set.
A distant image, hazy grey,
If only my dad could hear what I say.
