Why look at that o' yeller dog that we found Just wandering around our little town We brought him home and fed him, he ate like a hog He found him a place to lay, then slept like a log He ain't much to look at, worthless as can be Shaggy and dirty, and just full of fleas We gave him a bath and cleaned him all up And finally got him to look more like a pup He will chase his ball and bring it back to you He will play just as long as you want to He gets so excited when you come out to play Even if it is for just a moment that you stay No longer a puppy, he has grown by and by Stands on his hind feet and looks you in the eye He don't do no hunting, never put anything up a tree Just a scruffy ol' hound dog, worthless as can be But through the years that he's been around It got to where I kinda liked that ol' yeller hound Yea, that ol' yeller dog just can't be beat Even if it seems like all he does is eat So I guess I'll just keep him, let him stay around Even if he is just an ol' yeller hound
