Screaming Wound

by J James - Pisces

i heard you screaming from the door
about what you'd been looking for
and all you found was a
heart on the floor
what more could you do but
pick it up and hang it for display
to remind us about the one who got away
in body but not by
this beating definition
what more ammunition
could you have than
a heart in your hands
held down by rubberbands
as it struggles to break free
from the agony of you
and what you came to be
the screaming bitch that
takes me and breaks me
into the jagged pieces
that slit me open for the
world to see how vulnerable
you made me to your
mound of unclaimed baggage
your savage attempt at love
ripped me to shreds
and the bed we slept in
is just a reminder
of the scar tissue
i'm helpless to mend
