If you're ever in New Zealand...(for kids)

by Kristina Harris - Aries

If you're ever in New Zealand,
around the month of May..
Be very, very careful..
of things you do and say.

Don't talk about the weather,
'cause if you do, my friend,
You'll find mushrooms on your earlobes,
and monkeys in your head.

Don't tell a funny joke,
to a funny little man,
cause if you do my darlihgs..
I guarantee you'll see,
that what you call an elbow
will sprout into a tree.

Don't talk to any stangers,
for if you do my sweets,
You'll spend the weekend
eating up a bowl of yucky beets.

Don't try to race a rabbit,
for if you do I swear,
you'll find whiskers in your blankets,
and bunnies in your hair.

Don't try to find a pot of gold,
beneath the rainbow please.
For if you do, as all men know,
you'll have leprechans for knees.

Don't pick on any butterflies,
like all kids do some days.
For all your hair will turn to dust,
and fish will take it's place.

And NEVER drink the water,
I'll tell you this right now,
for if you do my children,
you'll turn into a cow!

So, if your in New Zealand,
around the month of May.
Be very, very careful,
of things you do and say.
For now you know the reason,
that people never know,
how things look in New Zealand,
they're too afraid to go!

Reason for writing:

My dear Shel Silverstein. I know it doesn't compare to his work, but
these kinds of silly poems are so fun to write.
