THE ROSE

by Cletus Hardiman - Sagittarius

If we planted a flower
for its beauty to expose;
we most likely would plant
the seed of a rose.
The beauty of a rose
with dew on its petal,
is equalled by nothing
not even precious metal !

But, reach for the rose
and you will probably find,
you'll be pricked or scratched
or get injury of some kind.
For the prettier the rose
the sharper the thorn.....
to protect the rose,
it's beauty to adorn !

Reason for writing:

    Nothing worthwhile comes without a price.....To get the best, you must be the best......If you want to be a writer, you must pay the price of discipline....just to sit yourself down and make yourself do it....as with anything in life.....It takes a little hurt, a little prick, a little scratch....to succeed...You probably would not get hold of a beautiful rose without a little "prick."...Right?
