GIRL ON A BARSTOOL

by Cletus Hardiman - Sagittarius

I met a girl on a barstool,
in a little country town,
In a place where some women
would be afraid to be around.
But, it didn't seem to bother her
for she would not make a "scene"
when somebody started trouble
or started talking quite obscene!

I made my way along the bar
'til I stood right next to her;
She slowly looked up at me
and said, "how are you, sir?"
Then I noticed that she trembled
as she reached out for her drink,
as she said, "sir, I just came here
for a while to sit and think."

She said that her Mom and Daddy
had divorced when she was small.
Her Daddy never wrote a letter
or took time to make a call;
Things at home were more than rough,
so, she "left out" on her own,
to try to find somebody
so she wouldn't be alone!

Well, we must have talked for hours,
the bartender gave LAST CALL.
But, by then, I knew her story,
and how GOOD GIRLS can fall....
Strange things sometimes happen
in this place we call the world.
For, I found out just tonight,
This was my own, sweet, darling girl!!!!!!!!
