Swept Under the Rug

by J James - Pisces

When you left me
in pieces that night
you expected me to
sweep it up myself
it's not my fault
you can't piece together
this involuntary jigsaw puzzle
is that why you threw me
to the floor?
the frustration of not
seeing the whole picture
it's not your fault my
pieces were missing
I had them all along
except I misplaced them
somehow…
maybe in the midst of
putting you together
I lost myself along the way
no need to send a search party
maybe I'm better off
leaving her behind
nothing's of interest
when it's a chore
insanity's a hobby
when normalcy's a bore
it's me I can't take anymore
my steady crumble
a front of someone humble
someone who couldn't
be one with another
when she was never one piece
to begin with
go figure...
