There's an old and fallin' down shack lying clustered in the trees, Where the sun can just shine through and the wind stirs up a breeze. The old porch has rotted down and the roof is caving in And the wind, it makes a rattle among the old and rotton tin. It was Dad who built that shack with his own two hands. I was raised there as a child and grew to be a man. But, like a rolling stone, I left and rambled on and on. I seemed to be too busy to find time to come back home. They say that Mom and Dad sat constantly and cried. They say a broken heart was the reason that they died. I'm sorry for their pain and the big mistake I made. As I stand here looking at the shack, lying clustered in the shade..... Cletus (Clete) Hardiman chard10442@aol.com
Reason for writing:
This could very well have happened to me, and some years ago, when I had come back home, I was fortunate to still have both my mom and dad....But, I would never have gotten over it, if it had happened to me....
