THE DRIVE ------------------ I woke up, just another day, I started my car and away I went, A bright flash, I was on unfamilar territory, I turned my head slowly, I peered through the passenger window, The scene was bleak, The trees were all dead, knarled and black, they were. No animals could be scene, only bones and carcasses. The ground was sand, The sky was black, I was only able to think of DEATH. I tried to turn my head, I was caught in this world, This world that went on forever, This world of depression. I finally pulled my head away. For a moment I felt normal. My head was pulled to the left, I was looking out the driver side window. I seen trees, large and full of leaves, Animals were seen everywhere,. Jumping, running and playing, The grass was green and lucious, Flowers were everywhere, Large and bright, The time in this land was quick, This land that I call Manic land. A bright light, The trip was over, Was it real? Yes, but only in the world of Manic Depression. 2/27/2000 copyright TODD THORNE
